Come Prepared
Please come prepared to your tutoring session. This means that you should have done your studying beforehand (whether that's reading over the chapters in your textbook, lecture notes, and/or doing your homework). Any questions that you come across in your self-studies can be addressed and discussed at your tutoring session, so have your questions ready prior to your tutoring session. Don't come to your session without doing some self-study of the material first. Tutoring is meant to reinforce and clarify course content that you have initially studied prior to coming.
Your Responsibility
- Be prepared for your tutoring session by making a list of concepts & questions to go over with the tutor. The concepts & questions on your list should come from any concepts you did not understand from your reading, and questions you could not figure out on your homework.
- Read up on your assignments BEFORE attending your tutoring session. Tutors will help you understand concepts explained in the chapter, but you are expected to study the chapter and work on your assignment.
- Schedule tutoring appointments here.
- Be prompt for all tutoring sessions. Don't be late!
- Provide feedback on the tutor’s performance following your tutoring sessions. Evaluation forms will be periodically distributed by the learning center. You can also leave feedback by filling out a short online survey when checking out of your appointment.
- Be courteous to tutoring staff.
Tutoring Center Policy
- Tutors will NOT do your homework, NOT correct your homework, and NOT help with a take-home test (we can not even tell you if you got the problem right). Students who violate this policy will be denied the privelege of attending tutoring sessions for the remainder of the term and your course instructor / academic advisor will be notified.
- If you need to cancel a tutoring appointment, please do so as soon as possible. Failure to notify the Tutoring Center of a cancellation at least 1-2 hours in advance may result in the cancellation of future appointments already made.
- Tardiness of 25 minutes or more forfeits your appointment. Your attendance status will be marked as missed and the tutor can take in any walk-ins from other students.
- If you miss FOUR or more tutoring appointments, you will lose the privilege to schedule any future tutoring sessions for the current trimester. If this happens, you will need to speak with the designated tutoring center coordinator to resolve this issue.
- If you consistently cancel tutoring appointments at the last minute, you may lose the privilege to schedule any future tutoring sessions for the current trimester. If this happens, you will need to speak with the designated tutoring center coordinator to resolve this issue.
- Tutoring appointment availabilities are subject to change so please make a habit of checking TutorTrac periodically.
